Fairy tale completed! LASK crowns itself champion
Players and coaches stormed onto the pitch and embraced one another, while complete ecstasy erupted in the stands: when referee Sebastian Gishamer blew the final whistle at 4:18 p.m., it was official — LASK are champions again! The Athletiker sealed the deal with a 3–0 away victory over FK Austria Wien in the final round thanks to goals from Xavier Mbuyamba (38’), Samuel Adeniran (49’, pen.) and Melayro Bogarde (76’). The fairy tale of an incredible season was complete!
Mbuyamba and Krystof Danek came into the starting lineup for the suspended Keba Cisse and the injured Moses Usor. The opening phase belonged to Austria Wien, who started ambitiously and tried to put pressure on the Linz defense without creating any truly dangerous chances. The first notable opportunities therefore fell to LASK: Danek tested goalkeeper Samuel Sahin-Radlinger from distance (8’), while a cross from Kasper Jörgensen found no takers in the middle (12’).
At the other end, former LASK player Johannes Eggestein produced the best chance for the hosts, but Lukas Jungwirth brilliantly cleared the German’s volley off the line after 26 minutes. LASK gradually grew into the game and spent more time in the opposition half, and in the 38th minute they struck: a long throw from Jörgensen was flicked on by Kalajdzic toward Mbuyamba, who scored the hugely important opener — the Dutchman’s third goal of the season, and perhaps his most important! Shortly before halftime, Kalajdzic fired another effort over the bar as the Linzers went into the break with a narrow lead.
The championship moment: Bogarde seals it
The Black-and-Whites made a dream start to the second half. Adeniran set up strike partner Kalajdzic, who rounded Sahin-Radlinger with a clever move before being brought down — referee Gishamer immediately pointed to the spot! As he had done recently against SK Rapid Wien, Adeniran took responsibility and coolly converted his penalty for his tenth goal of the season to make it 2–0 (49’). With a two-goal cushion, LASK now played like true champions. Defensive leader Joao Tornich and his teammates calmly shut everything down and gave Austria Wien no chance back into the match, while remaining dangerous on the counterattack.
As the LASK supporters had already begun singing championship songs, the trophy seemed all but secured in the 76th minute. Another attack from the Linzers saw Kalajdzic burst into the box from the left, keep his composure, and square the ball for the advancing Bogarde, who simply had to tap in — 3–0 to LASK! The remaining quarter-hour felt like a victory parade for the soon-to-be champions, and by then it was obvious that the Linzers were crowning an extraordinary season with a domestic double. When referee Gishamer blew the final whistle at 4:18 p.m., it became official: LASK are Austrian champions for the 2025/26 season!

„
If someone had told us this seven months ago, we would have thought they were crazy. We are deserved champions, and it’s extraordinary the level these boys have been performing at for many months now. At the start of the game you could understandably sense a bit of tension, but after the first goal things became easier. After the 2–0, I knew the boys were unstoppable. I’m incredibly proud to be working with this team.
