The Captain Stays On Board
In his fifth season with LASK, he was appointed team captain – and now Sascha Horvath has signed a contract extension with the Athletiker. The 29-year-old midfield engine has extended his deal, originally running until 2027, by one more year, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2028.
Sascha Horvath made his official debut for LASK on September 12, 2021, in the Bundesliga clash with Austria Wien. Before joining the Black-and-Whites in the summer of 2021, the midfielder had spells with TSV Hartberg, Dynamo Dresden, Wacker Innsbruck, Sturm Graz, and Austria Wien.
Four years on, the fans’ favorite has racked up 154 appearances in the LASK jersey – more than any other player in the current squad. Over this period, Horvath has contributed 18 goals and 23 assists, with his most productive campaign coming in 2021/22, when he tallied 18 goal involvements in 36 matches.
Since the start of the current season, the 29-year-old has been wearing the captain’s armband and has already featured six times. With two years still left on his original deal, Horvath has now committed his future to LASK until the summer of 2028. “When the club approached me, it didn’t take me long to decide. I feel very appreciated and comfortable at LASK. This is a great step for my future, and I’m really looking forward to the journey ahead together,” said the midfielder on signing his long-term extension in Linz.
„
Sascha Horvath has not only developed into a key player for us, but has also grown into an important figure of identification for the entire club. With his early contract extension, we are sending a strong signal for the future, and we are convinced that he will remain a decisive factor for LASK in the years to come.
