LASK has reached an agreement with Dutch top club AFC Ajax on a long-term strategic partnership. The focus of the collaboration will be on the intensive exchange of know-how as well as the optimization of player development and talent promotion. As a result, the club from Linz will now become part of Ajax’s international partner club network.

The Dutch record champions and four-time Champions League winners have been regarded as pioneers in talent development for decades, with the renowned Ajax Youth Academy considered one of the best training centers in the world. Over several generations, world-class players have been developed there – from Johan Cruyff, Marco van Basten and Frank Rijkaard to Clarence Seedorf, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart and Matthijs de Ligt.

This outstanding expertise in training methodology and player education, along with the regular and direct exchange of know-how, is now set to benefit LASK as well. This ensures that the existing opportunities at the voestalpine Performance Academy can be utilized in the best possible way for the LASK Academy and the second team, enabling the next steps in the development of promising young players.

The continuous exchange of knowledge and information will also extend to scouting, supported by cooperation with other partner clubs such as CF Pachuca, Club León, Real Oviedo, Como 1907, and Gamba Osaka. This network is intended to help open up new perspectives in talent identification.

Another highlight is the participation of LASK academy players in international tournaments. Youngsters Lukas Bozsoki and Jakob Wansch represented Future United at the Future Cup in Amsterdam from March 29 to April 6 – a team made up of selected players from all partner clubs. Remarkably, Wansch was the only player to complete every match for the full duration. The two had the opportunity to compete against top teams such as AFC Ajax, Paris Saint-Germain F.C., and Sporting CP, eventually finishing the tournament in an impressive third place.

The partnership also opens up potential beyond the sporting side: both clubs are already exchanging ideas in selected organizational and commercial areas in order to learn from one another and leverage synergies. This also includes hospitality and matchday experience, where LASK intends to contribute its own expertise.

Marijn Beuker, Director of Football of Ajax:
“This partnership reflects our ambition to build strong relationships with clubs that share a clear vision on player development. With LASK, we see a partner that is committed to growth, innovation, and creating the right conditions for players and staff to develop. The involvement of two LASK players in the Future United team at the Future Cup in Amsterdam last weekend was a strong first example of this collaboration in practice. LASK’s strategic location in the central part of Europe also makes this partnership particularly valuable for our talent identification efforts in the region. By exchanging knowledge, strengthening player pathways, and working together on talent identification, we believe this partnership can create real value for both clubs, both in football and in the broader exchange of ideas and experience between our clubs.”

Siegmund Gruber, CEO of LASK:
“This partnership with AFC Ajax is a significant milestone for LASK. What makes this collaboration particularly valuable is the intensive exchange of knowledge across all key areas of football. Working closely with a club that combines a rich history with world-class expertise in player development and the integration of young talents at the highest level is a great opportunity to evolve. We are convinced that this continuous knowledge sharing will play a crucial role in advancing our sporting strategy and creating the best possible environment for our players and staff to grow.”
