LASK has once again been active on the transfer market. Brazilian defender Joao Tornich, also known as Alemao, joins from Portuguese side Portimonense SAD on loan. LASK also holds a purchase option for the 22-year-old.

Tornich has spent the past two and a half years in Portugal. After moving from his youth club Corinthians to the Iberian Peninsula in January 2023, he made his professional debut for Portimonense SAD in the Portuguese top flight just a few months later. He quickly established himself as a regular, making 23 appearances last season in the second division, 19 of them as a starter.

So far, eleven players from the country of the record World Cup winners have featured for LASK’s first team. With his physical presence, height, and strength in duels, Tornich is expected to further bolster the center-back position for the Athletiker. The 22-year-old joins on loan from Portimonense until the summer of 2026, including a purchase option, and will wear the number 43 shirt at LASK.

Joao Tornich brings experience from both the first and second divisions in Portugal. He has strong positional play and tackling ability, along with a good level of natural aggressiveness. His aerial strength and physical presence in the back line will also be valuable to us. He is a young player with great potential for development, ensuring that we are even more broadly equipped in the center-back position.
